Who We Are
We are volunteer educators, trained by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, who encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices in the Rockfish Valley. We strive to keep our community healthy and our neighbors informed.
In partnership with Virginia Tech and Extension, we bring scientific knowledge of the best horticultural and landscape management practices to the communities of Nelson County.
Have gardening questions or need help identifying a plant in your neighborhood? Our NCMGA Help Desk provides science based advice on keeping your garden healthy. You also have access to the services of the Virginia Cooperative Extension and its member Land Grant Universities. Services include:

2018 - A Year in the making
The Master Gardeners of Nelson County want to be a catalyst for positive change in our community through education and stewardship. Since our beginnings, we’ve been driven by the same ideas that initially founded our Nonprofit Organization: support, education, and empowerment. Everyone is welcome to join our mission and we look forward to sowing the seeds that will add to our thriving community.
Social Media is a great way to stay connected to the latest events going on in the Rockfish Valley. We also love to hear your gardening stories. Click on our social links below, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for all comments, questions, and gardening ideas.
