Welcome to the Nelson County Master Gardeners Association

“All gardening is landscape painting.” - William Kent

Who We Are

We are volunteer educators, trained by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, who encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices in the Rockfish Valley. We strive to keep our community healthy and our neighbors informed.

In partnership with Virginia Tech and Extension, we bring scientific knowledge of the best horticultural and landscape management practices to the communities of Nelson County.

A Year in the making

The Master Gardeners of Nelson County want to be a catalyst for positive change in our community through education and stewardship. Since our beginnings, we’ve been driven by the same ideas that initially founded our Nonprofit Organization: support, education, and empowerment. Everyone is welcome to join our mission and we look forward to sowing the seeds that will add to our thriving community.
